Incident Handling 13: How to deal with coking of the bed material in a circulating fluidized bed boiler?

When operators detect coking in the bed material of a circulating fluidized bed boiler, they must take immediate action to prevent the situation from worsening and causing greater losses. The specific measures are as follows: When operators notice an abnormally high bed temperature and, based on other signs, suspect the possibility of coking, they should promptly increase the amount of primary air, enhance slag removal, reduce the coal supply to curb further coking, and restore normal operation. If these measures prove ineffective, the boiler should be shut down immediately. Empty the circulating ash completely, and try to remove all the slag from inside the furnace. Check for coking; if coking is present, open the access door, pry apart the coked masses as much as possible, and remove them promptly. If the coking is not severe, remove the coke masses from the furnace, ignite it, and put it into operation ； If coking is severe and cannot be removed while the boiler is hot, the slag should be cleaned after the boiler has cooled down.
