I heard that there have been cases in the ammonia synthesis industry where gases rich in CO were used for exhaust gas treatment, and I’m reaching out for advice. Are there any cost-effective methods for treating exhaust gas with a CO content of around 10%?
For example, in the ammonia synthesis industry, regarding the treatment of purge gas: in earlier coal-based ammonia production methods, the purge gas generated during the production process had a composition similar to this, with a CO content of around 10%, and the remaining components being mainly N2. Such gas cannot be discharged directly nor ignited directly – so how should it be treated? Is TO or RTO + boiler recovery being used?
