Is brass resistant to chloride corrosion?

The customer’s limit switch is used on a ship, where it is occasionally exposed to seawater. The original limit switch housing was made of brass; it needs to be replaced now. Should it be replaced with an aluminum alloy coated in epoxy resin, or with 316L? Thank you so much!

Aluminum should not be considered at all; stainless steel is not very good either. Naval brass is a traditional and reliable material. It was originally made from naval brass; why do you want to replace it with aluminum or stainless steel? Reduce costs? It is people like these who ruin things, engaging in cutbacks under the pretext of reducing costs.
As clearly stated above, the reason for changing the material is that limit switches with brass casings are relatively rare in the market, and it’s also harder to find manufacturers for them
Thank you, your answer is very helpful to me. It seems that the product is hard to find outside, or its price is high, mainly due to the small quantity available. So if you want to purchase from our company, we don’t have brass available; we only have 316L. So I’m not very sure.
