In what situations is TIG welding used (i.e., welding the entire weld seam with TIG welding)? In what situations is TIG welding used for the root pass?
I heard on site that \"the small pipes can be welded directly using TIG welding.\" As I understand it, using TIG welding for the root pass is done to avoid slag.
1. For small-diameter containers or steel pipes where double-sided welding is not possible, penetration welding with TIG welding as a root pass is used. 2. For materials such as thin-walled stainless steel, backside root cleaning is not possible; therefore, full TIG welding must be used. 3. For special materials such as titanium, no welding electrodes are currently available; TIG welding is generally used.

For some complex structures, it is not possible to remove slag and polish the back side, which is why TIG welding is employed.
