It depends on your choice. The sampling type offers good precision and reliable measurement results, but sampling is required and regular maintenance is necessary. The electrostatic type requires less maintenance, but it has higher demands regarding the measurement environment, and its measurement results are not entirely reliable.

Online dust switches are the cheapest and also the worst in quality. The reason is simple: dust switches provide digital output, so precision isn’t an issue. Manufacturers of dust switches, whether in China or abroad, produce products with errors ranging from 100% to 1000%; after all, it’s a digital output, and users aren’t able to verify its accuracy. For example, if an alarm is set at 50mg/m3 on the dust collector, but it only triggers an alarm when the level reaches 500mg/m3, the user is unaware of this. By the time they check the dust collector due to the alarm, leakage has indeed occurred; yet in reality, the user has suffered significant losses. Generally, users who want to save money and settle for a basic option choose this one. A dust transmitter is a bit more advanced than a dust switch; both are generally integrated units. It generally features an analog 4-20mA output, available in two-wire and four-wire configurations; there are both domestic and imported versions, with imports coming from the United States, Germany, Finland, and Australia. Two-wire 24V 4-20mA dust transmitters are the most common. The concept of precision can be discussed; at least customers have a way to verify it, so they aren’t deceived too badly by sellers. However, the quality of dust transmitters varies as well – just because something is imported doesn’t mean it’s of good quality, and even among imported products, there are differences in quality and price. The best option is a dust analyzer; it is expensive but offers the highest precision, and it is used in situations where users have strict requirements regarding dust. For example, users don’t want to deceive themselves, especially when it comes to protecting important equipment; if the equipment is damaged by dust and stops working, the company suffers losses, the owner loses money and gets angry, and those responsible must take action. We use the DUMO model from SINTROL for granulation; it’s of good quality, but it is a bit expensive.
