The hexanenitrile and HDI industrial chains independently developed by Shandong Runxing Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. have obtained multiple **patents, filling a gap in China’s industry and reaching international advanced levels. Developing an HDI and hexanenitrile industry based on non-phosgene technologies with independent intellectual property rights is essential for fundamentally changing the structure of China’s polyurethane industry and its products, and this has become an urgent priority for that industry. The company’s industrialization project, which has an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of HDI and 300,000 tons of adiponitrile, has been listed as one of the first batch of provincial strategic emerging industry projects in Shandong Province. In December 2011, the Science and Technology Department of Shandong Province organized an evaluation of Runxing’s scientific and technological achievements in the areas of “Electrochemical Synthesis of Adiponitrile Technology and Industrialization” and “Non-phosgene-based Hexamethylenediisocyanate (HDI) Technology and Industrialization”. The evaluation committee was composed of five academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering—Li Junxian, Wu Weizu, Li Zhengming, Shu Xingtian, and Sun Baoguo—as well as four professors: Wang Daquan, Ma Chunan, Wu Chunzhi, and An Zhongwei. The conclusion of the evaluation was that the adiponitrile project “filled the gap in domestic production of adiponitrile, with its overall technology reaching international advanced levels” (Lu Ke Cheng Jian Zi No. 1312) ; The HDI project’s overall technology has reached an internationally advanced level”
