Question: Due to production process issues, the wastewater contains around 15% methanol. To avoid pollution and reduce the COD level in this wastewater, I am seeking methods for treatment and recovery! Thank you!
Distill to recover methanol, and then treat the waste liquid to see if that works.
A conventional distillation tower can be used to purify methanol aqueous solutions, with the methanol content in the bottom of the tower able to be controlled at the ppm level
Through distillation, the methanol concentration can be maintained at around 99.5%, allowing it to be reused and thus saving costs; the wastewater is also easier to treat
The wastewater contains about 15% methanol; the amount of wastewater also plays a role. Distillation techniques can be used to meet the requirements for wastewater discharge. If the volume of wastewater is sufficient, it is possible to recover methanol of industrial grade. However, when the wastewater volume is small, the costs become too high from an economic perspective. Therefore, detailed data are needed for an accurate assessment in order to draw reasonable conclusions.
