Where is the best place to add the catalytic oil slurry scale inhibitor for optimal effect?

From what I understand, catalytic slurry scale inhibitors are generally added to the inlet pipeline of the slurry. Will adding them in other locations affect their effectiveness? Could these scale inhibitors have other effects on the slurry system, such as causing corrosion or other issues?
I can’t remember the details exactly, but it was something like saying that this location helps to minimize the precipitation and flocculation of tar compounds in the slurry.
