The pipe diameter of the centrifugal pump is 200, and the flow rate is 230. A return line needs to be installed on the pump’s outlet pipeline; should the size of this line be the same as that of the outlet pipe? :handshake
Select the pipe diameter based on 30%~50% of the pump outlet flow rate; DN100 will suffice.
For a DN200 pipeline, using DN100 means a scale of 1/4; together with the allowable variation in flow rate, this should be sufficient.
Most machine pumps have their own minimum flow rate specifications; check those and then use the formula to calculate the actual pipe diameter that can be used!
It depends on the purpose for which you are setting up the return flow line. If it is to protect the pump, then calculate it based on the minimum return flow rate required by the pump; if there are other purposes, then calculate it according to the flow rate you desire.
It doesn’t need to be that large; we export pipes of 300 diameter, so the circulation line is around 50 as well. It depends on what function your loop line is supposed to serve; if it’s too large, won’t it cause diversion of flow?

If it is merely to fill the system before starting the pump and prevent pressure buildup due to the pump outlet valve remaining closed for an extended period, then a larger diameter isn’t necessary; DN50 is sufficient. It mainly depends on your intended use. It’s too thick, which affects the pump’s performance; it also generates a lot of noise during operation!
