To change the crystal form of the product, it is heated with steam at 60°C for 16 hours – is automatic control necessary?
It can be controlled even without an automatic control system. You can first heat the water to around 60-65 degrees Celsius using steam, or even a higher temperature, and then use hot water for circulation heating. After making a few adjustments, by controlling the opening degree of the valve at the optimal level, the system will function properly. Using steam directly, in my opinion, is a bit difficult; the steam supplied by boilers is usually superheated, with very high temperatures. Controlling the temperature at 60°C may result in localized areas having excessively high temperatures. Additionally, it depends on whether it’s a testing device or an industrial production equipment – testing devices that aren’t used frequently don’t require an automatic control system. For industrial production equipment, temperature control valves can be used for control, as they make the operation easier and safer; frequent manual control of the steam flow isn’t very safe. You haven’t installed automatic control here in the reactor, but you have it for water temperature regulation. Whether self-control is necessary or not depends on the difficulty of control and on labor costs; if there is someone who can monitor and make adjustments, then self-control isn’t required, as long as it’s possible to keep an eye on things. It also depends on how you evaluate the effect of manual monitoring and adjustment – should there be real-time temperature recording, or wait 16 hours before checking the product quality?
To ensure good product quality, it is best to incorporate automatic control. Since it relies entirely on human operation, mistakes are inevitable.

How to maintain 60 degrees, how to ensure 16 hours of operation? If manual methods can achieve this and are even cheaper than automation, then why use automatic control?
Is the medium flammable and toxic? Is the reaction violent? Are the raw materials and products expensive? Is the technology mature? By taking the relevant factors into account, a preliminary conclusion can be drawn.
