There is a Rosemount integrated vortex flow meter on site; the indication fluctuates as a reflection of the process conditions, and after fluctuating for some time it drops to zero. The valve position is usually adjusted slightly to around 40 percent, and the indication used to be stable. Could everyone please help analyze this situation? (The medium is liquid ammonia, which may contain impurities; after reducing the flow rate on site, a small amount of flow was detected. The valve was opened and closed several times, and it seemed that the flow rate increased slightly, but it was still far from normal levels. Additionally, there is a signal strength indicator on the gauge connected to 475 – I’m not sure what value constitutes a normal reading for this indicator.) This on-site indication is only 2.9, and it keeps fluctuating. ) Seeking guidance
Based on the description, I believe it is more likely that there is a fault with the vortex flow meter itself; considering replacing it would be a good option. Before making the replacement, one can check for issues such as vibrations in the pipeline, strong electromagnetic interference in the surrounding area, loose connections at the wiring terminals, and any signs of damage to the circuit board.
Check whether the pipeline is vibrating, if there is strong electromagnetic interference in the vicinity, and whether any of the connection terminals of the wires have come loose
The sensor can be removed to check if water has gotten in.
Connect an external portable ultrasonic flow meter; by comparing the data from it, you’ll know.
