I would like to ask everyone for advice. Our factory uses an open-loop circulating cooling system for the circulating water. The quality of this water is as follows: alkalinity 5.3 mmol/l, hardness 17.2 mmol/l, chloride ions 312 mg/l, total phosphorus 3.82 mg/l, calcium hardness 10.1 mmol/l, and pH 8.75. After clarification and treatment with lime, the quality of the make-up water becomes: alkalinity 3.0, hardness 5.1, chloride ions 83, total phosphorus 1.58, calcium hardness 3.2, and pH 8.12. Currently, the required concentration ratio is below 4. If we want to increase this ratio, what level would be appropriate? How to determine the appropriate concentration ratio? This approach achieves water conservation without causing scaling or corrosion. The water replenishment rate is approximately 400 t/h, and the amount of chemicals added depends on the total phosphorus level; is there a standard to determine whether this amount is appropriate?
Increasing the concentration factor requires consideration of the range within which phosphorus can be controlled. If phosphorus has a large influence on the solubility and stability of calcium, then the concentration factor can be increased; however, 4 is already a very high value.
To determine the ultimate concentration factor, it is necessary to simulate the water quality conditions and conduct corrosion and scale inhibition tests. There is no other way
Is 4 high? Our unit requires the concentration factor to be above 4
What kind of water is used for rehydration? The total phosphorus level is a little over 1. The various control indicators can be regulated in accordance with national standards; it is necessary to determine what range the concentration ratio can be kept within, and considering the amount of water added, it should be kept below 4 times. At the same time, contact the manufacturers of corrosion and scale inhibition agents to have them provide a solution
The right chemical needs to be selected; this must be determined through tests on corrosion and scale inhibition agents, or else one can only rely on personal experience
This question is quite simple: first, based on the current water quality, it is possible to achieve a value of over 4. But certain measures need to be taken.
