During the assembly of a centrifugal pump, which parts have an interference fit and which have a clearance fit? For example, what should be the fitting relationships between the shaft and the impeller, between the pump cover and the pump body, between the bearing housing and the pump cover, and between the bearing end caps and the bearing housing? I don’t have much knowledge in mechanical matters; I hope fellow enthusiasts can inform me
The bearing is interference-fitted, while the others are clearance-fitted
A clearance fit involves a certain amount of gap between the components, with this gap usually being more than 0.1. An interference fit means that there is little to no gap between the shaft and the bearing, with the gap ranging from +0.01 to 0.03. In an interference fit, the shaft must be larger than the hole; when the gap exceeds 0.1, hot fitting or cold fitting is required.
It’s better to move this to the AC area for motor-driven equipment. Have you seen motors or something where the bearings need to be replaced? There are heaters there as well
