The items that are lifted are usually large in size and heavy in weight, and various factors such as wind force can affect the lifting process, leading to the collapse of the tower crane. Therefore, it is very necessary to know some preventive measures. 1. First and foremost, we need to ensure that the working area of the tower crane is level and solid, as this is the foundation for stabilizing the tower crane. If the ground is uneven and the soil is loose, the stability of the tower crane cannot be ensured. Moreover, when lifting a load, the tower crane has to bear not only the weight of that load but also its own weight, which means the ground is unable to withstand such pressure, making it easy for the crane to tip over. Therefore, when securing a tower crane, a solid and flat area should be chosen. 2. Overloading of the tower crane is strictly prohibited during operation. Due to the high cost of renting or purchasing tower cranes, some users overload them when lifting heavy loads in order to save costs. This will cause the overturning moment of the heavy object to exceed the stabilizing moment of the tower crane, resulting in its overturning. Therefore, strict adherence to the regulations must be observed during operation, and overloading is strictly prohibited. 3. Sloping lifting should be avoided during operations. Sometimes, due to weather conditions, strong winds may occur during operations, and the tower crane operator will use an inclined lifting method for lifting. Lifting heavy loads at an angle applies a tipping moment to the support points at the bottom of the tower crane, which in turn reduces the stability of the crane and can lead to its overturning. Therefore, it is also necessary to keep the crane’s boom vertical when lifting heavy objects. Lifting operations must be prohibited when the wind speed exceeds level 6, in order to effectively prevent the crane from toppling over.
