Back then, we were both class representatives, so we had more contact; I would always look for opportunities to talk to her and meet up with her. As we got to know each other better over time, it’s possible that we both developed feelings for one another. She often came to our classroom at night and sat in front of me to study; we would often play around together! Caught by the principal and teachers many times! Even though I always came in first and was better at studying than her, it was always me who got beaten! After all the fighting and chaos, when we reached the ninth grade and classes were divided, we miraculously ended up in the same class, and we even sat one in front of the other. I thought it must be fate, and our feelings for each other gradually deepened! But none of us broke the final barrier! We also never confessed our feelings to each other; we just went through the middle school entrance exams in a carefree and noisy manner! After the middle school exams, I was admitted to the prestigious high school in our area, while she went to an ordinary high school further away; we were separated by a distance! Back then, there were no mobile phones, and no internet either! We write letters every half month! It’s always heartwarming to see letters, but they never talk about feelings! It’s just about sharing some interesting things related to studies and daily life! During the summer and winter breaks, I would secretly meet up with them once, without my family knowing! Over the three years of high school, a thick stack of letters was accumulated! I kept collecting them \"carefully\" until before I got married! Haha! After the college entrance exam, our grades were all poor! I just passed the cutoff score and was assigned to a school whose name I had never heard of; she decided to repeat her senior year! In my freshman year, I still exchanged letters frequently, just like in high school! I started my online gaming career in the second semester of my freshman year! I don’t even dare to tell her! A year later, I was in my sophomore year, and she took the college entrance exam again, doing extremely well – scoring far above the required threshold. She used to tell me that she wanted to study in Beijing! When filling out the application forms, I let her use my advice, and I also suggested that she go to Beijing to study! After some time, one early morning, she called me and asked me to guess what school she had applied to as her first choice! I guessed all the schools in Beijing, and none of them were correct! Finally she said: I applied to the school you are at! I fell silent; my eyes filled with tears right there on the spot! I’m sorry for all she’s done for me! When she enrolled, I got all the roommates in our dormitory to help her! I was extremely excited at the time; I didn’t play games for those days! For the following month, I spent every night with her at the Xiaowu Si Square on campus, chatting with her and telling her about all the interesting things at university! That period was the happiest time of my college years! The good times didn’t last long; gradually I started playing games again. She found out about it, and her attempts to persuade me were unsuccessful. She would often go to the internet cafe to find me and turn off my computer! Sometimes arguments break out in internet cafes! I used to call her every night, but later she stopped answering my calls, and gradually we stopped in touch! I spend more and more time online, often staying up all night! One would really become addicted to the internet! She ignored me, and I deleted all her messages too! But later, I found out from my roommate that she had been paying attention to me all the time, and she wasn’t in a relationship either! She’s still very beautiful, and there are many who pursue her! So, after not having in touch for two years, when I reached my senior year, I started to study seriously and could no longer use the internet. When she found out about this, she asked my roommates several times to call me so that we could eat together, but I refused every time! It’s not that I didn’t want to; I just felt too embarrassed to face her. Later, my roommate took me to have dinner with her without telling me, and little by little things got better between us again. . But I know that she is no longer the same person she used to be, and I am also no longer the same person I used to be! Near the time I was about to graduate, she said let’s go climb Mount Tai together, and I was overjoyed! We climbed the mountain at night; it was raining while we were climbing, and the next morning we managed to see the sunrise on Mount Tai! While hiking, she took the initiative to put her arm around mine. I didn’t think about anything at the time; I simply shook off her arm and said I was exhausted and that she shouldn’t pull me along. . . . When it comes to emotions, I’m really a complete novice! I don’t understand women’s hearts! The day after coming down the mountain, we went to Jinan; her cousin came from Beijing to Jinan that day to spend time with us! A few more unpleasant incidents occurred later, and actually they were all caused by my lack of understanding of the rules. . Can’t speak, can’t handle interpersonal situations! After going on dates like that, she broke up with me again. . Even though I tried my best to keep them! Just before graduation, she had a talk with me and pointed out all my shortcomings, especially my problems in getting along with girls – things like not knowing how to be charming, not knowing how to take care of them, and not knowing how to speak properly! My heart was in pieces at that time. . But I remember every single word she said clearly! It’s still vivid in my mind to this day! Her words became my motto from then on! My wife often praises me for being considerate and asks me who taught me these things! I could only grin foolishly! Next, I graduated and went to a chemical engineering design institute near my hometown. She did well in college, winning scholarships every year, and later was admitted to graduate school as a recommended candidate! Our lives are no longer on the same path! A relationship like this lasted for over 10 years, and it seems we never held hands during that time! Very innocent, very naive, very heartwarming, but also deeply unforgettable and full of scars! What’s been lost will never return, but I’ve learned to cherish what I have! Just as one’s hometown is meant to be remembered, youth is meant to be recalled. When you have it with you, you think it’s worth nothing; but once it’s gone, looking back, it’s already in dim light. Only when we recall once again our youth, do we realize that we have grown up.
