Its function is to reduce pressure, facilitating desorption! It is generally used in situations where the adsorption pressure is not high and the impurity content in the raw material is high. For example, to recover H2 from refinery dry gas, a vacuum extraction process is commonly used.
Reducing the pressure in the adsorption tower causes the impurities to be released; the principle is that, at the same temperature, different pressures result in varying adsorption capacities for different substances
Domestic adsorbents are not effective; impurities can only be removed under negative pressure, which is why vacuum pumping is used
For separation processes in which adsorbed impurities (hydrocarbons) are difficult to remove, vacuum pumping is generally required to ensure thorough regeneration of the adsorbent. In systems such as PSA for hydrogen production, impurities other than hydrogen can be removed relatively easily, so a vacuum pump is generally not required.
