I recently came across a project related to the storage of residue oil. Since this is my first time dealing with such a design and I have no experience in this area, I would like to ask a question: The project involves one dome tank with a capacity of 5000 m3 for storing crude oil, and now this tank is being used to store residue oil. Since residue oil generally has high viscosity, poor flowability, and poor heat transfer properties, it is necessary to install internal heating devices in the tank during storage. However, since only a few sets of heaters can be placed at certain heights at the bottom of the tank, how can heat transfer within the residue oil tank be ensured, so that the temperature of the oil near the heaters rises rapidly while there is little temperature increase in other areas? Are any forced convection measures required?

Well, our heavy oil tanks all have circulation lines, powered by mechanical pumps.
