The eye washer is there to prevent freezing, I guess. The temperature difference is too small; it’s likely to freeze anyway. There are ready-made eye washers with electric heating.
First, it is necessary to determine whether the circulation path of the hot water includes the internal pipes of the eye washer; in other words, whether the areas from the water inlet to the shower basin and the eye washing nozzles are also part of the water circulation path. If it is included, then there will be no problem with the eye washer. If the path of the circulating water only reaches the inlet of the eyewash station, the eyewash station itself will still freeze. Of course, if an anti-freezing type eye washer is used, as long as the circulating water temperature remains at 20° and the circulation path includes the pipe at the water inlet, freezing will not occur.
I have previously worked with clients in the chemical industry in Shandong Province; their eye wash stations did not use a drainage-based anti-freezing system – instead, water circulation was used to prevent freezing. The water inlet is located at a height of about 1.5 meters above the ground, and there are also two outlets: one for discharging wastewater, and the other for the circulation of water. The outlet for water flow is located at the very top of the eye washer. This creates a circulation path, and the continuous flow of water ensures that it does not freeze. However, this is more suitable for use in areas where the winter temperature is around 0°±5°; it will still be affected if the temperature is too low.

Regarding the selection and setup of eye wash stations, modern systems use soft water for the water supply; a soft water tank is installed, and the eye wash stations are connected via separate pipelines. Both the soft water tank and the pipelines leading to the eye wash stations are equipped with heating systems to prevent freezing (electrical heating is preferred). The eye wash stations themselves are of the anti-freezing type, and they come with constant temperature control, meaning that electric heaters are installed at the outlet to ensure that the water temperature remains steady, thus preventing frostbite or other issues due to low temperatures in winter. With high specifications, it is not suitable for ordinary chemical plants or general factories; adequate anti-freezing measures are sufficient.
