In a batch of saline solution, what type of saline solution is returned to the intermediate tank by valves 4 and 6 of the HVM membrane filter? Why is it set up this way?
First, it is necessary to understand the working principle and operational procedures of the Kay membrane in order to know what the 4,6 valves are for, as well as to comprehend the purpose of having an intermediate tank.
Valve 4# is a backflow valve, and Valve 6# is a slag discharge valve; both discharge directly into the brine sludge tank. I’m not sure which tank you mean by the intermediate tank

The insoluble substances adsorbed on the membrane surface are dislodged from it using the potential energy of the brine at a level above the plate, causing them to sink to the bottom of the filter. This prevents the membrane from becoming clogged and facilitates better purification of the brine. The backflowing saltwater enters the intermediate tank. (Saltwater is unfiltered saltwater.)
This portion of brine is the clarified brine remaining in the filter after backwashing, and all its parameters meet the requirements for brine entering the filter; therefore, it can be fed into the subsequent reaction tank to mix with other brines, satisfying the process requirements
