Environmental protection is not just a slogan or a topic; it is also a mindset, a philosophy, and a way of life. It requires not only the participation of experts and scholars but also broad public involvement. Perhaps you are not majoring in environmental protection, your job has nothing to do with it, and you may not know much about environmental issues either, but that’s not a problem. As long as you have an environmentally conscious heart, there are many things you can do; you can contribute by carrying out basic environmental practices to protect our only home on Earth. An individual may seem insignificant, but one person can influence a family; a family can influence a community; and a community can influence a city. For a Lewu with bluer skies and cleaner waters in the future, we urge people from all walks of life in the city to take action right away to care for our homeland: ◎ If you are an ordinary citizen: Please develop correct environmental values and ethical attitudes toward the environment, regard individual environmental protection actions as part of one’s personal civilization and courtesy, pay attention to environmental issues around you, learn scientific knowledge about environmental protection, actively enhance your awareness of environmental protection, and start with small actions in everyday life – let us all strive to be practitioners of environmental protection. In daily life, we should conserve energy and electricity, promote green consumption, support and participate in the recycling of waste paper, glass, plastic, and metal. We should minimize household waste, reduce the use of disposable items such as paper cups, wooden chopsticks, and meal containers, save paper, and use electronic greeting cards instead of paper ones. Try to avoid fishing and dining in the protected areas around water sources as much as possible. ◎If you are an enterprise or institution: please take environmental conditions seriously, abide by environmental protection laws and regulations, carry out construction and discharge pollutants in accordance with the law, and firmly condemn and resist any actions that pollute the environment or damage ecosystems. Increase investment in technology, accelerate the phasing out of outdated production capacity, and resolutely avoid establishing new energy-intensive production projects. Resources and energy should be used scientifically, a circular economy promoted, and the comprehensive utilization rate of solid waste and recycled water resources improved. Clean production and green procurement practices should be adopted to reduce the generation and emission of pollutants at the source of production. Establishing resource-efficient and environment-friendly enterprises should be regarded as a long-term strategic goal. ◎If you are an environmental protection professional: please love your profession, earnestly comply with relevant laws, regulations and environmental protection policies, and use your positive image as an environmentalist to influence and inspire those around you. Environmental protection accompanies us throughout our lives; loving our work means loving our lives! Environmental protection is a great and noble cause that benefits humanity and future generations; those who work in this field should feel proud! ◎If you are an environmental volunteer: please accept our respect. Thank you for your understanding and support of environmental protection efforts, and we ask that you continue to spread this spirit of concern for the environment, using your actions to inspire more people to join the ranks of environmental volunteers. ◎If you are someone who cares about environmental protection: please pay attention to the environmental issues around you. We will work together with more like-minded people to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and contribute to the development that benefits the public. We will make use of every opportunity to strengthen awareness-raising efforts, raise the environmental protection consciousness among the entire population, and ensure that more environmental information reaches you and as many people as possible. ◎If you are a student: please remember that protecting the environment in which we live today means protecting your own future. You should actively learn about environmental protection, develop good environmental habits, monitor any illegal activities related to the environment, and encourage your whole family to become committed practitioners of environmental protection. It is urgent to protect the environment; everyone has an undeniable responsibility and duty to do so!
