Mobile cranes are driven by their own power systems, and are also known as self-propelled cranes. These include truck cranes, tire cranes, and crawler cranes. The working environment for mobile cranes is extremely complex, and the most common adverse weather condition is strong winds. When strong winds occur, it is essential to take safety precautions; otherwise, crane overturning accidents are likely to happen. To this end, when strong winds are present, the crane must take the following safety measures: 1. The higher the height, the greater the wind force it has to withstand. Therefore, when the boom of a mobile crane and the load being lifted are at a high altitude, and if the load is large, it is necessary to pay attention to the direction of the wind in order to minimize the wind force acting on the load. 2. Adjust in accordance with the wind direction based on factors such as the shape and weight of the object being lifted, in order to reduce the force of the wind on the object ; If the wind direction cannot be determined, it is required to lower the object first, then raise the hook and rope to observe and determine it. 3. For cranes that are parked in strong winds, it is required that their lifting and traveling mechanisms remain in a vertical orientation, with the machinery facing away from the wind direction ; Lock both the operating mechanism and the brakes on the crane, then turn off the engine. 4. Stop operating when the wind speed reaches its limit. Mobile cranes and truck cranes must be parked in a sheltered area or indoors ; The crawler crane needs to lower its boom to the ground, with the brakes engaged.
