Question: As titled, how can a regeneration unit be used to concentrate MDEA amine solution? Who has done this before, or those with experience in this area, please share your insights. Thank you.

Since our factory processes a small volume of material, we go straight to acidic water stripping to adjust the pH value of the acidic water
Increase the bottom temperature of the regeneration tower, reduce the reflux flow at the top of the tower; send the acidic water from the acidic gas liquid separation tank at the top of the tower to the acidic water stripping unit, and send the distilled acidic water away as well.
Have you guys done this before? What is the amine concentration in the acidic water, and is there excessive loss of the amine solution?

Three years ago, the tube bundle of the bottom reboiler in our company’s amine solution regeneration tower leaked, allowing large amounts of steam condensate to enter the amine solution system. As a result, the concentration of the amine solution dropped to around 17%. After replacing the tube bundle and restarting the system, we reduced the flow rate of material returning to the regeneration unit and removed more acidic water; it took about 2 days to raise the amine solution concentration to around 25%. Then some fresh amine solution was added to keep the concentration at around 30%. Of course, this process caused some of the amine solution to be carried away with the acidic water, resulting in some loss of amine solution, but the amount lost wasn’t significant! At that time, it was analyzed that the amine content in the acidic water was around 5%; the specific figures are no longer available. Could you take samples for analysis? If the amount of amine solution available in your system permits it, you can simply top up with fresh amine solution; I hope this helps!
