The nitrogen buffer tank in the indoor air compressor station of our facility is equipped with a safety valve, and the pressure release from this valve occurs directly inside the room. Which regulation should be followed to determine whether the pressure relief outlet should be led outdoors?
Setting aside the regulatory issues for now, nitrogen is an asphyxiant gas; any pressure release inside a building will result in a nitrogen-rich environment there. If maintenance or inspection personnel enter such a space, it could lead to asphyxiation accidents. Since nitrogen does not pollute the environment, why isn’t releasing it into the atmosphere considered an option? I believe that pressure release inside a building is not in line with safety standards and represents a significant potential safety hazard.
