The vent holes on the roof of our gasoline storage tank were sealed for insulation; will this have any impact on the tank when materials are loaded or unloaded?
Gas tanks usually have internal floating roofs, and their ventilation holes are located on the tank walls; they can’t be sealed, right? If it gets sealed, it will definitely affect oil collection.
Are there backup vent holes or breathing valves? How can one breathe if it’s not there?
Your introduction is one-sided; we need to know the type of storage tank (vaulted or internal floating roof), whether nitrogen blanketing and vapor recovery systems are in place, and pictures would be ideal if available. Based on your description, my personal understanding is that your company’s storage tanks are likely internal floating roof tanks equipped with edge vent holes, without a nitrogen blanketing system. The vent holes on the top of the tank are sealed with insulation, but since there are edge vent holes (which remain unsealed), material handling operations do not affect the tank.
I agree with the person above; without ventilation holes all around, it will definitely affect the oil delivery and absorption.
The storage tank will get damaged; where can one find technicians like that?:o
