I’m a recent graduate who has just started working as a equipment technician in a company. We still haven’t taken over the work; we’re just asked to look at the equipment drawings on our own. By the end of the day, not only do my eyes hurt terribly, but I also have trouble seeing clearly, which makes me frustrated. Could my older siblings give me some advice? How to quickly understand a device diagram?

Look at the overall structure diagram first, then check the material list
Drawings usually indicate the names of the components; if it seems abstract, you can search for images using those names on Baidu to get a clearer understanding
Find out what it does, how it does it, and how to prevent it from failing
At first, I didn’t understand it either. What I did was to first learn the main process from experienced workers, then draw simple flowcharts by myself. On-site, I followed the main process as it was carried out; once the process was pretty much in place, I would look at those diagrams, and by then I would understand everything – it’s about understanding the main process
What major are you studying? One should have a basic understanding by the time they graduate from school. Based on the numbers indicated on the drawings – such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – one needs to figure out what component corresponds to each number. If one can’t figure it out, they can look it up online or take the drawings with them to the site during maintenance to verify it. Take your time; it’s impossible to achieve success overnight. Then, when performing maintenance on the equipment in the future and encountering special components, you can use CAD to draw them out and practice creating three-view drawings.
