What is the difference between acid concentrations of 98 and 93? Do elements such as Fe and As in the acid have an impact on the final product? Will the discoloration caused by Fe affect the final product?
An acid concentration of 98% is suitable for the Mannheim process for producing potassium sulfate; approximately 0.58 tons of 100% sulfur are required per ton of potassium sulfate, along with 11.6 kg of water, and this has little impact on the quality of the product; And 40.6 kg of acid with a concentration of 93% is introduced into water; this acid evaporates in the Mannheim furnace. As the water evaporates, sulfuric acid does as well, thereby corroding the furnace walls. The sulfuric acid vapor enters the gas phase, increasing the sulfuric acid content in the salts produced later on ; The discoloration caused by Fe in acids can affect the final product; all mineral acids contain iron, and levels below 0.05% have no impact ; Elements such as As have no effect on the finished product.
Thank you: lol In our factory, the sulfuric acid contains white FeSO4 precipitates; I’m not sure if this affects the production of potassium sulfate
The FeSO4 precipitate is ferrous iron, which oxidizes to red as soon as it is exposed to air

Sure. In the high-temperature furnace, FeSO4 and KCl turn into K2SO4 and FeCl3 gases; this does not affect the final product, but it affects the color of the by-product salts and acids
