Remote dual-metal temperature; PT100 comes in several versions. Why can a bimetallic thermometer used for power generation provide three temperature readings when connected with three wires, while only two temperature readings are available when connected with two wires?
Bimetallic elements are generally used for local indication or as temperature switches; what you’re referring to is probably a digital signal, not an analog signal
I don’t understand what the original poster means. A “bimetallic thermometer” and a “PT100 (platinum resistance thermometer)” are two completely different types of temperature measurement devices, and they cannot be combined together.
A bimetallic thermometer is a field measurement instrument used to measure medium and low temperatures. It can directly measure the temperature of liquid, vapor, and gaseous media within the range of -80°C to +500°C in various production processes. The main component of an industrial bimetallic thermometer is a multi-layered metal strip formed by stacking two or more metal sheets together; it functions on the principle that two different metals expand to different degrees when the temperature changes. It is composed of bimetallic sheets twisted into a circular shape. When one end expands due to heat, it causes the pointer to rotate, and the measuring instrument thus displays the temperature value corresponding to the thermoelectrical potential.
With this structure, they can be combined together to function individually; it provides bimetallic temperature display as well as PT100 resistance signals
With the poster saying that, I’m sure your device is damaged. There are two types of remote transmitters: those that display the temperature locally, and those that come with a thermistor for remote transmission. Thermistors usually operate on a three-wire system and only display one temperature value, while thermocouples use positive and negative wires to indicate one temperature value. Another option is one with aviation plug for remote transmission; the wires are installed by the manufacturer, and all you need to do is connect it to the display. If it’s based on the 3 wires and 3 temperatures you mentioned, it’s simply impossible. Unless it’s broken!
How can a bimetallic thermometer and a thermal resistor, which are two different temperature measurement methods, be combined together? Please, the original poster, explain some details.
