When calculating the tube sheet in SW6, when the thickness of the shell remains constant, the calculation mode for the tube sheet does not allow a calculation to be performed, with an error message indicating that the dimensions are out of range; however, the verification mode can be used for such calculations. If the wall thickness of the shell is increased, it becomes possible to obtain results using the calculation mode, and it is not necessary to use the verification mode. What is the reason for this? Also, is it acceptable to use the thickness of the tube sheet calculated via the verification mode for shells with thin walls?

That is, after the SW6 upgrade, in the calculation of the tube sheet for fixed-tube-sheet heat exchangers, if the tube sheet thickness is not entered and the program is allowed to calculate the minimum required thickness on its own, the program will generate an error ; It is necessary to manually enter a tube sheet thickness value before the program can carry out the verification calculations; the designer must adjust the tube sheet thickness as appropriate based on the various stress values and recalculate. Actually, this is also a good thing. Earlier versions of SW6 were too simplistic; the various parameters used in strength calculations would yield fairly reasonable results without designers needing to consider them actively. This will make designers increasingly lazy.

There are requirements regarding the minimum thickness of the heat exchanger shell; even if the calculations show that the strength requirements are met, if the minimum thickness requirement is not satisfied, the software defaults to considering it unqualified, and of course no calculations for the tube sheet will be carried out
