Why do some distillation columns have two feed inlets for the same stream, one above and one below?
Choose different feed inlets based on the components: choose the upper one for those with a higher proportion of light components, and the lower one for those with a higher proportion of heavy components.
It is used to adjust the feed temperature, thereby controlling the temperature of the tower. Generally, one of these two feed streams enters the tower after being heated through a heat exchanger, while the other stream enters the tower directly without going through a heat exchanger; by adjusting the flow ratio between these two streams, temperature control is achieved!
Agree with the second floor. We have ones like this.
Adjusting the feed position according to changes in composition is more economical than simply increasing the reflux ratio.
Choosing the tray whose feed is closest to that of the feed components results in the least disturbance to the column and better separation performance.
