Reduce welding heat input to lower the inter-pass temperature. Of course, it’s possible that the weld already had defects, which were not detected by the inspection.
It is currently the time for repairs; the previous defects have been fixed, but new small cracks have appeared elsewhere. Please analyze the reasons and suggest effective ways to carry out the repairs
Is it the weld itself, the weld edge, or the base material? Should a nickel-based material with better plasticity be used?
1: The solution treatment was not done properly. 2: The 2205 duplex steel, due to the thermal effects of welding, exhibits inconsistent microstructural patterns in the weld zone and the heat-affected zone; the ferrite-austenite ratio is out of spec, and welding stresses lead to the formation of microcracks. 3: The base material becomes contaminated during crack removal. Handling suggestions: 1: Use stainless steel tools to remove cracks. 2: Take proper protective measures and weld using a low current. 3: Remove residual stresses after welding. 4: Perform solution treatment again
