What is relative humidity? What is specific humidity?
Relative humidity is the ratio of absolute moisture content to absolute saturated moisture capacity. Specific humidity is the amount of water vapor contained in each kilogram of dry air.
Relative humidity: refers to the percentage of water vapor pressure in the air compared to the saturated water vapor pressure. Specific humidity, also known as moisture content, is a measure of the overall amount of moisture in the air, that is, the quantity of water vapor contained in each kilogram of dry air.
Relative humidity------------The percentage value of the actual water vapor density in the air compared to the saturated water vapor density at the same temperature is called the “relative humidity” of the air. The dryness or wetness of the air is related to the degree to which the water vapor content in the air is close to saturation, and it has no direct relation to the absolute amount of water vapor present in the air. For example, when the pressure of water vapor in the air is also 1606.24 Pa (12.79 mmHg), on a hot summer noon when the temperature is around 35°C, people do not feel humid, as the temperature is still far from the saturation pressure of water vapor and the moisture in objects can continue to evaporate. In the cooler autumn months, when the temperature is around 15°C, people feel humid because the water vapor pressure at this time has reached supersaturation; as a result, water vapor cannot evaporate and instead condenses into liquid water. Therefore, the percentage of ρ1, the actual density of water vapor in the air, relative to ρ2, the density of saturated water vapor at the same temperature, expressed as ρ1/ρ2×100%, is what we call relative humidity. It can also be expressed as a ratio of water vapor pressures: for example, the pressure of water vapor in air is 1606.24 Pa (12.79 mmHg). At 35°C, the saturated vapor pressure is 5938.52 Pa (44.55 mmHg), which gives the relative humidity of the air. At 15°C, the saturated vapor pressure is still 1606.24 Pa (12.79 mmHg), resulting in a relative humidity of 100%. Specific humidity is a specialized term in metallurgy. --------Specific humidity, also known as moisture content, is a measure of the overall amount of moisture in the air, that is, the quantity of water vapor contained in each kilogram of dry air.
