I’ve heard that high-pressure heat exchangers come in full-pressure and differential-pressure types. I really need an expert to explain this to me; I have no idea at all!
I’ve never heard of it. Generally, when designing heat exchangers, a pressure difference-based design might be used; I personally haven’t designed such products before.
In the differential pressure type, the pressure difference between the tube side and the shell side must not exceed 20%, or the 2/3 design principle must be followed. The full-pressure type is not subject to this limitation, as the pressure difference between the tube side and the shell side can be very large (for example, 15 MPa on the tube side and 1.6 MPa on the shell side).

An emergency discharge device will be installed on the low-pressure side. The drawings for the differential pressure design will include instructions.
