In any industry, there are always some disruptions. Meters are no exception. 11.18, an ordinary day. On November 18, as the gong marking the start of trading rang out in the hall of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shanghai Lingang Holding Co., Ltd. (600848.SH), a subsidiary of Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd., was successfully listed by taking over the listing rights of Ziyi Co., Ltd. This marked an end to the period during which none of Lingang Group’s subsidiaries were listed on the stock market, and it represented another significant achievement in Shanghai’s state-owned asset reform efforts. Backdoor listing. What is backdoor listing? Backdoor listing refers to a process in which a private company injects its assets into a publicly listed company with a lower market value (the \"shell\" company), thereby gaining control over that company to a certain extent. By leveraging the status of that publicly listed company, the assets of the parent company can be brought onto the stock market. Usually, the shell company is given a new name. Actually, this is just a very ordinary form of capital operation. A few days ago, an article on a well-known website caused a huge uproar in the industry! The original quote reads as follows: The name “Shangzi Yi” has completely disappeared from the historical stage since yesterday, just like the once vanished “Xi Yi”. Of the Republic’s three major automation instrument manufacturing bases, only “Chuan Yi”, which produces goods on behalf of Japan’s Yokogawa, remains today, which is truly regrettable for those in the automation industry. State-owned instrument manufacturers have been completely wiped out, while private enterprises such as Wiltech and Wanxun, even those that are listed on the stock market, have also performed poorly in recent years. Technical barriers, coupled with the market structure that had already taken shape in the 1990s, left little room for domestic instruments to survive. Has our national ritual force been completely wiped out? I don’t think so. What is your intention in saying that the Guoyi forces were completely wiped out? Tianze: Since Ziyi was delisted, as an employee of Ziyi, what’s your opinion on this matter? Employees of Ziyi: The company simply sold the name of Ziyi Shares to Shanghai Port; everything else remains unchanged. Tianze: What’s your opinion on such malicious attempts to slander people? Self-disciplined employee: Be the best version of yourself, and let your actions speak for themselves! I don’t want to say anything either; it’s not necessary. Tianze: Talking objectively, has Guoyi really gone out of business? An engineer at a foreign company: No, there are still many. I just think the model of state-owned enterprises needs to be changed. There are also quite good domestic analyzers available, such as those from Juguang and Shidilong... Tianze: Some people say that Chuanyi is only suitable for contract manufacturing – what’s your opinion? An engineer from a foreign company: I think factoring out production to others shows that we are capable of doing it; then why not have Vietnam or Laos handle the manufacturing? Apple’s products are all manufactured by us at Foxconn! Those manufactured on behalf of Yokogawa probably contain Yokogawa’s patents; but even if we set those patents aside, we can still do it! Tianze: So, what do you think should be the direction for our instrumentation industry? Engineer at a foreign company: R&D investment, raw material procurement, quality management, branding, after-sales service. Tianze: What’s your opinion on the recent developments regarding Zi Yi? How do you feel? A domestic valve manufacturer: While there are various reasons for delisting, performance is certainly one of the main factors; it might be that the company is treating those assets as non-performing assets to be divested. Backdoor listing is merely a means of capital operation. Tianze: What’s your opinion on Chuanyi being targeted recently? Chuanyi’s technical staff: As a company operating in the instrumentation industry, it is highly irresponsible for a influential website and platform like Industrial Control Network to publish irresponsible statements without respecting the facts; such behavior is very detrimental to the reputation of domestic brands. As a leading enterprise in China’s automation instrumentation sector, Chuanyi’s achievements and influence are evident to all. Articles on industrial control networks mislead many people who are not aware of the situation, creating a negative impression. Objectively speaking, in order to survive and thrive, domestic brands are investing a great deal of manpower and resources in developing new technologies, narrowing the gap with foreign brands, and catching up with leading companies; they are constantly surpassing international brands in certain areas. Many of their products have withstood the test of actual use, and they serve as alternatives to imported products in many situations. That article on industrial control networks was one-sided and based on subjective assumptions; it’s truly hard to agree with it. On the other hand, it also reflects their lack of understanding of the domestic situation, the market industry, and the current state of various brands. It’s no wonder such an article caused outrage and criticism. In fact, without understanding, there is no right to speak; having gone through the ups and downs of the market, every brand that exists continues to strengthen itself and grow. I think it’s still hoped that everyone can evaluate things from an objective perspective, free of any bias, and with an understanding of the current situation. Only by being objective and fair can one resonate more with everyone and earn their respect. Tianze: What’s your opinion on the issues arising from the recent withdrawal of Ziyi from the stock market, which has been widely discussed in the industry? A foreign-funded instrument technology engineer: I want to work in the high-end sector, building a brand over time and gaining technical expertise through experience. Now, most domestic instruments have taken over the mid-to-low-end market. While this is understandable for practical reasons, if this continues, it will only lead to a vicious cycle. Nowadays, Industry 4.0 is being promoted everywhere, but **automation has not yet been achieved in many of our industries; therefore, there is still a way forward. Ideally, those who can remain patient, avoid impatience, and are willing to invest in research and development will surely see their moment come; of course, **some form of support would be even better. One must be strong oneself to do good work; to be honest, Guoyi is still quite behind foreign competitors. Attempting to expand the market aggressively when the company itself isn’t yet fully developed will surely result in being rejected by the market. In fact, foreign brands have been significantly impacted by domestic brands; many products from Chuanyi and Ziyi are highly recognized. Tianze: What are your thoughts on this incident? A foreign-funded instrumentation technology engineer: There’s a lot to say; I hope that those of us in the instrumentation field won’t lose confidence in ourselves – time will prove everything! Tianze: What’s your opinion on the widespread calls from the industry recently? Senior instrumentation expert: For domestic products to truly succeed, in my opinion, at a macro level, **support is needed – policies and funding must all be directed toward them. On a smaller scale, from the perspective of enterprises, they must also make changes in terms of management, talent, and development strategies. Starting with research and development, production, management, marketing, and software/hardware services: if your quality is better than mine, I admit it. In that case, I’ll compete through superior service—exchanging service for time and service for development. It’s not the presence of problems that’s a concern; it’s failing to address them when they arise. Tianze: Regarding this matter, what are your thoughts? Senior instrumentation expert: Automatic control instrumentation is not a key industry; there isn’t much interest in promoting domestic production in this field. As professionals in this industry, we cannot allow some people to make unfounded and irrelevant claims about it! All those working in this field are making efforts; everyone hopes that the industry will get better and better. Everyone wishes to see more documents in Chinese when reviewing materials, rather than having them all in English. As a professional, it’s unbearable for me to see our domestic brands being slandered in this way. On site, I saw numerous temperature measurement instruments for gasifiers, all of which were made by Zhonghuan Tianyi. Isn’t this a domestic brand? Nanjing U-Box: On November 13, 2015, the U-Box safety barrier obtained the functional safety (SIL) certification from TÜV Rheinland in Germany. Who says my people have no place in fashion? ……Objectivity and fairness are necessary to resonate with everyone and earn their respect. Those who recklessly smear others—what are their motives? To this, we have a response: We do not lose confidence in our industry; we will keep working hard, as time is the only criterion that can prove what is true!
