When the medium in a tower-type container is explosive, a fire-resistant layer must be installed inside the skirt when the inner diameter is 1500 mm or less; when the inner diameter is greater than 1500 mm, fire-resistant layers must be installed both inside and outside the skirt. How is such a fire-resistant layer constructed? What is the difference in its manufacturing process compared to insulation layers? I would appreciate some advice from fellow sailors.

The materials used for the fireproof layer are usually asbestos cement, while insulation materials such as rock wool can be used as well. The fireproof layer is typically poured in place, with wire mesh used to secure it from the outside; the insulation layer can be installed as well
The fireproofing layer shall determine whether nails or mesh should be used, based on the type of fireproof coating selected and its instructions for use.
I would like to ask the experts: is the fire-resistant layer made of a special coating, or is it cast from cement and asbestos? I have also heard of fire-resistant coatings being used. Could you be more detailed?
Fire-resistant coatings are used for the construction of the fire protection layer, while insulation materials such as composite silicates are used for the insulation layer~~
For the fire protection layer, the owner usually applies fire-resistant material to equipment or steel structures; this is completely different from insulation. The construction of the fire protection layer is similar to concrete plastering, and it requires curing as well due to similar principles. Additionally, as mentioned by one of the gentlemen above, wire mesh is used to reinforce the equipment skirt.
May I ask the original poster: what’s the purpose of installing wire mesh and reinforcing bars on the skirt base?
Fireproof materials are classified into outdoor thick-type, outdoor thin-type, indoor thick-type, and indoor thin-type. Those used outdoors are usually of the thick type; the exact thickness varies among different manufacturers. Typically, a fire resistance rating of 1.5 hours corresponds to a thickness of around 20 millimeters. Adding wire mesh serves to enhance strength, similar to the role of rebar in concrete pouring
May I ask the original poster whether the fireproof coating is homemade or purchased? If it is homemade, how is it made? If it is purchased, what are its specific name and grade?
It was purchased externally; water was added on-site during construction for mixing. I can’t remember the specific model anymore – I haven’t done that work in a long time. Don’t you have any design drawings? Additionally, after the bidding is completed and the manufacturer is selected, they will provide detailed information. There’s not really that much to it
