What are the safety requirements for the packaging and transportation of methanol products?
Product packaging: 1. Packaging methods – There are two ways to package liquid products: in barrels for small batches; Bulk products are transported in tank trucks, which come in two types: those designed for use on trains and those designed for use on roads. 2. Measurement: When packaging methanol, it is essential to ensure the high purity of the product. Containers must be carefully inspected during filling to prevent contamination of the product by oil, impurities, or moisture ; Once filling is complete, the container must be sealed immediately to prevent leaks, thus avoiding any impact on product quality ; Loading is not allowed in rainy weather or heavy fog; special protective measures must be taken for filling. Requirements for transporting methanol: The transportation of methanol is carried out in accordance with the regulations set by the chemicals and transportation authorities. 1. Methanol is transported either in tank trucks or in iron drums; each drum has a net weight of 160 kg ; Railway tank cars are 40~50t ; The capacity of the road tankers is 2~4 tons. 2. Containers holding methanol must be marked with clear labels indicating the manufacturer’s name, product name, net weight, standard number, and hazard labeling for dangerous goods. 3. Each batch of products leaving the factory should be accompanied by a product quality certification. 4. Methanol has a low boiling point and is flammable; it must not be exposed to high temperatures or sources of fire during transportation. 5. Methanol tank trucks must have a certificate of successful maintenance, complete accessories, and an up-to-date maintenance date; their safety devices must be sensitive and reliable, with tight seals. 6. Severe impacts and slides are prohibited during transportation.
