There is a Y-type pipe filter at the inlet of the heat transfer medium shielding pump in our company; the valve body is made of CW material. During maintenance, cracks were found on the edges of the flanges, and the supervisor instructed that they be welded shut. The experienced worker carried out the welding, but leaks continued to occur at those points, so ultimately the entire perimeter had to be welded. Have anyone else encountered a similar situation?
The casting has porosity, and it’s difficult to repair; it’s necessary to mill away the porous areas first before performing welding repairs
Groove welding and re-welding are performed; the casting is first heated with a cutting torch before welding.
