There is a project with 400 analog input points (of which 50 are for control valves) and 200 digital input points. So, should we choose a DCS or a PLC for this control system?
With a large number of control loops, it is more reasonable to use DCS; performing control loop calculations with PLC is rather complex, and the load on the PLC controller for 50 such loops is likely to be very high

Although current PLCs can meet your requirements, they are rather cumbersome to configure and maintain when there are many analog inputs. Although the manufacturer handles the setup initially, subsequent maintenance still has to be done by you.
