Can a belt saw be used for welding the heat exchanger tube sheet? What is the difference in performance compared to GMAW?
Is it surfacing? SAW refers to submerged arc welding; the term \"band\" indicates that the welding material is in strip form. GMAW is generally semi-automatic welding, also known as gas metal arc welding. For common materials, the practical difference is that SAW strip welding is faster but requires more expensive equipment, while GMAW is slower but uses less expensive equipment. As for the skill requirements of welders, the difference isn’t significant; if flaw detection is necessary, then certified welders are required. Another aspect is controlling deformation; it is best to round the shape and process the surface as well as the tube holes after welding is complete. . . .
