If the steam valve is not opened and only the water valve is opened, the pressure inside the boiler drum will be higher than that inside the glass tube; as a result, the water level in the glass tube will necessarily be higher than the actual water level in the boiler drum, creating an apparent water level. If the water valve is not opened and only the steam valve is opened, the continuous condensation of steam causes the glass tube to fill with water, thereby also creating a false water level. II. Two-color water level gauge: 1. Utilizing optical principles, this gauge displays colorless water and steam within it in different colors (red and green), making the boundary between water and steam clear and visible; thus, it is possible to accurately determine the water level from a distance using a camera. 2. Use and maintenance of the dual-color water level gauge: ① The dual-color water level gauge is an optical instrument, and it must not be struck forcefully. ②After installation, wait for the water level gauge to warm up before use. ③The new water gauge should be cleaned before it is put into use. ④If a leak is detected at the seal surface of the water gauge, the screws should be tightened, applying even force in a crosswise manner. ⑤Depending on the degree of corrosion of the glass, replace it to prevent accidents caused by sudden breakage due to corrosion. ⑥The gaskets of water level gauges and the valve bushings can suffer from wear, corrosion, and aging due to long-term use, and should be replaced regularly. III. Daily inspection of the water level gauge: ① The glass should be kept clean at all times; if contamination is evident and it cannot be cleaned by wiping, it should be replaced. ②If the boiler water quality is good, it can be flushed once a week on a regular basis. ③Pay attention to the operating status of each valve (steam valves and water valves should be open) ; The drain valve is closed) to prevent false water levels. Replacement of the water level gauge’s glass tube: ① Wear a protective mask and gloves; turn sideways, close the water valve first, then the steam valve, to avoid being scalded by boiling water and steam. ②Gently loosen the upper and lower caps, remove the broken glass tube, and clear out any filler debris from the groove. ③Place the new glass tube vertically and slowly tighten the upper and lower gland screws, but be careful not to tighten them too much to avoid preventing the glass tube from expanding due to heat. ④Open the steam valve slightly for preheating; once moisture appears inside the pipe, open the drain valve, then increase the opening of the steam valve slightly. After that, gradually close the drain valve while increasing the opening of both the steam and water valves, so that the water level gauge can function properly.
