How is this type of wastewater treated in petroleum refining companies? Going directly into the wastewater treatment plant has a significant impact on the treatment process, and it’s difficult to ensure that the output meets the required standards. Is there any effective solution?
Given that it is a petroleum refining enterprise, two treatment methods can be considered: 1. Anaerobic + A/O. Since the COD level of this wastewater is high, it cannot be sent directly to aerobic treatment processes; it can first be treated through anaerobic methods such as hydrolysis-acidification or IC, which generally reduces the COD level to a level acceptable for aerobic treatment. The A/O process can then effectively remove any remaining COD and ammonia nitrogen, ensuring that the wastewater meets discharge standards; 2. Flocculation sedimentation + A/O: Flocculants can remove most of the ammonia nitrogen as well as part of the COD; subsequently, the A/O process is used (if flocculation is effective in removing ammonia nitrogen, an aeration tank alone may suffice) to achieve discharge standards ; The specific details can only be determined by taking water samples for pilot tests. If wastewater is to be sent to a wastewater treatment plant, anaerobic treatment or flocculation sedimentation can be used as pre-treatment; the wastewater after this pre-treatment can then be discharged into the wastewater treatment plant.
