Scope of application: This method is suitable for floor finishing projects with medium or lower standards, especially in hospitals and schools. 3. Process Principle: The basic principle of the terrazzo floor construction method is to first level the surface with mortar, mark grid lines, and install grid strips. While applying a cement paste bond layer, the terrazzo mix is prepared and laid down; thereafter, it is rolled flat with rollers. Once it has reached a certain strength, a trial grinding is carried out. After confirming that everything is correct, the surface is ground roughly, then more finely, until it is polished. To achieve a significant effect after waxing, first scrub with oxalic acid and then apply wax for polishing. 4. Construction techniques: (1) Substrate preparation – Check the flatness and elevation of the substrate; address any protrusions, and remove dust, debris, and oil stains. (2) Watering to moisten: The base surface should be watered and moistened the day before applying the plaster. (3) Mixing the base plaster: The mix ratio for the base plaster is 1:3 for dry-hard cement mortar used on floors, and 1:3 for plastic cement mortar used on baseboards. It is required that the mix ratio be accurate and the mixture well blended. (4) Marking the guides and skirtings: Determine the floor level based on the horizontal line at +50cm on the wall, taking into account the thickness of the finishing layer. Draw lines along the wall edges to mark the positions for applying mortar guides; the spacing between these guides is generally 1–1.5 meters. Floors with floor drains should be sloped in accordance with design requirements; generally, the slope of the edge profile along the drainage direction is 0.5%-1%. Based on the thickness of the wall plastering, squares are used at the internal and external corners, along with rulers and strings, to determine the thickness and height of the skirting boards. Guides are marked according to the thickness of the underlying plastering, with a spacing of generally 1–1.5 meters. (5) Applying base mortar: Before applying the mortar, brush a 1:0.5 cement paste on the substrate.

The process for installing a wet-grouted terrazzo floor is as follows: base surface preparation – moistening with water – mixing the underlayment mortar – marking lines and setting the skirtings – applying the underlayment mortar – curing the underlayment layer – installing dividing strips – mixing the stone aggregate mortar – applying the stone aggregate mortar layer – curing – polishing and acid washing – waxing
