Our company has newly installed a sulfur recovery unit, using the process package provided by Ningbo Weiruite Messer. The sulfur to be recovered is in granular form in an aqueous solution. Currently, the accompanying sulfur filtration system uses filter presses for filtration. The filter has a diameter of 1.4 meters, a volume of approximately 3 cubic meters, and a maximum allowable operating pressure of 0.25 MPa. The filter screen has a mesh size of 160. The liquid supply pump for the filter has a flow rate of 11.4 m3/h; under normal operating conditions, the pressure at the pump outlet is 0.4 MPa, with a maximum pressure of 0.8 MPa. The problem now is that sulfur particles cannot form a film on the filter screen of the filter press; even if a film does form, it is very thin and does not meet the design requirements. When the filter cake is dried, even after blowing air for a long time—two or three hours—the filter cake still releases water as soon as it is squeezed. Question for advice: How can sulfur particles be kept on the filter screen to form a filter layer, even if it’s only 1 centimeter thick? How can this filter cake be dried quickly? (During the drying process, the filter cake remains on the filter screen; after drying, the filter cake is recovered.) Should the moisture content not exceed 20%? Since sulfur needs to be recovered for other uses, no other impurities can be added inside to assist with filtration. It is currently in the commissioning phase; urgent assistance is needed to resolve the issues! ! ! ! Thank you!
Where was the filter press purchased from? Have the manufacturer carry out adjustments. A good quality filter press shouldn’t behave like this
