I just got my engineer certificate recently; it’s a small company, and I had to handle all the applications and paperwork myself. May I ask if this certificate should always be kept with you? I heard that some organizations actually require people to hand them in as well?
I’ve paid it – what’s the benefit? What’s the harm in not paying? Different companies vary; assess the pros and cons for yourself!
I just don’t know what the potential advantages or disadvantages might be, so I’m taking the liberty to ask. Thank you

It seems to be of little use; currently, advanced professional titles have little to do with retirement benefits. You should ask the person in charge of company qualifications, such as the HR department.
The relevant websites of the general location where one works usually provide guidelines for applying for professional titles; I followed those guidelines. Of course, it was still the company that had to stamp the documents, but I took care of all the other tasks myself.
Should I just apply directly, or do I need to take an exam?
It varies from place to place; here we need to submit a thesis and then give a defense
Do small companies have a future? A professional title certificate gives you the right to sign off on drawings; I haven’t submitted mine yet. It seems that a junior professional title isn’t very useful in small companies. There’s also an employment certificate that I haven’t handed in either; I think it’s the employment certificate that needs to be submitted to the company
