How are external pressure vessels and vacuum vessels defined? Is it the same meaning, just with a different name?
External pressure vessels and vacuum vessels are two completely different concepts; a vacuum vessel is definitely an external pressure vessel, but an external pressure vessel is not necessarily a vacuum vessel. The maximum negative pressure in a vacuum vessel is -0.1 MPa, while the pressure in an externally pressurized vessel can be very high; for example, a vessel with a jacket constitutes an externally pressurized vessel with respect to the internal vessel.
External pressure vessel: A vessel in which the external pressure is greater than the internal pressure is called an external pressure vessel. Internal pressure vessel: A vessel in which the pressure inside is greater than the pressure outside is called an internal pressure vessel. Vacuum vessel: A vacuum vessel is a type of external-pressure vessel; when the pressure outside the vessel is at atmospheric level while the pressure inside the vessel is lower than 0.02 MPa, it is called a vacuum vessel
