I’ve seen an HF storage tank whose safety valve setting pressure was much higher than the maximum operating pressure – about three times higher. Is that appropriate? Are there any relevant standard requirements?

It’s definitely not correct; according to the standards, the setting pressure of a safety valve must not be higher than the maximum allowable operating pressure. The maximum allowable operating pressure of a device is the lower value of the pressures calculated based on the effective thickness of the pressure-bearing components. If the setting pressure of the safety valve, that is, its opening pressure, is higher than the maximum allowable operating pressure, then the device is very likely to get damaged.
The set pressure of this container safety valve does not exceed the design pressure.
In that case, there will definitely be no problem.
Although the set pressure of the container’s safety valve is more than three times the maximum operating pressure (the pressure at which operation is not permitted), it still falls within the design pressure range; so according to you, this is acceptable; Based on the properties of the medium, it is also somewhat necessary; is this understanding correct?
