Dear experts, I graduated from a full-time graduate program this year and am currently engaged in work related to waste gas process design and development. If I want to apply for a professional title, which field should I apply for? Do you need to get an assistant rating first before pursuing an intermediate rating?

Hello, then does this initially designated assistant engineer need to apply? And regarding the number of years required for work experience to qualify for the intermediate level, how many years is that?
Based on my experience, as well as the answers from some people found online: it is not necessary to obtain the title of assistant engineer after graduating with a master’s degree; assistant engineer is considered a junior professional title (some even argue that for someone with a master’s degree, this title is too low, and it’s like using someone who is overqualified for the role). Master’s graduates who have worked in their field for 3 years and pass the assessment can be awarded an intermediate professional title, namely engineer.
I just checked as well, and it says that one year of work in a related technical field after graduation is required
Both our company and Jiangsu Province require a period of 3 years; however, requirements may vary from province to company, or an accelerated rating may be possible if certain policies allowing for reduced periods are met

Master’s degree holders can be directly promoted to the intermediate level after 2–3 years; doctoral degree holders can be directly promoted to the senior associate level after 1 year
