I would like to ask fellow marine engineers: In a coal chemical plant producing 300,000 tons per year of methanol, is the pump used for pumping the lean liquid from the low-temperature methanol washing process driven by a hydraulic turbine? I would be extremely grateful if anyone could introduce it!
I’ve seen Huabada Hospital do this in the preliminary design for a certain company, but I haven’t actually seen any other organizations use it.

Hydraulic turbine pumps are widely used in hydrocracking applications. The pressure difference between the systems before and after the hydraulic turbine pump is relatively large; the better the energy recovery achieved by using such pumps, the better. Typically, 75% to 80% of full load is the design operating condition for hydraulic turbine pumps. Ensuring that the pump operates at full load, while using bypass lines for adjustments, yields the best results. Whether a hydraulic turbine pump can be used depends mainly on the pressure before and after the system, as well as system regulation ; Then calculate the payback period for the investment, as the cost of hydraulic turbine pumps is relatively high.
