Have you come across any cases of pipe damage caused by water hammer? Compared to water hammer, which one has greater destructive power? Thank you!
Since I have never seen a water hammer, based on the description, it seems that its power is greater. Water hammer is relatively common, and everyone knows how to avoid it; therefore its impact seems to be limited. However, there are cases where it can be severe. In one instance, a small floating head bolt on one of our heaters became loose due to vibration, resulting in internal leakage. There was also a more serious incident: when steam was used for cleaning a low-pressure gas pipeline network, a DN600 pipe fell off the pipe hanger as a result of the vibration. It depends on the extent.
