But remote reset of just the solenoid valve is meaningless and offers no benefits; generally, the solenoid valve is reset on-site, as it is sometimes necessary to confirm things on-site before resetting the solenoid valve – this is an action taken after ensuring that everything is correct on site.

Isn’t remote reset the same as remote interlock reset? To create a button, local reset is the only option.

I’ve seen installations where such a feature was required, but the client later decided against it. The idea behind this is that after checking the valve on-site and confirming that it’s ready for use, one can go to a distance to perform the reset; this way, in case of any emergencies, one remains at a safe distance and is not at risk of injury. It could also refer to resetting the valve through the control system, which is the normal approach. I think what it means is that if your shut-off valve is equipped with a solenoid valve interlock, then in each shutdown sequence, not only should there be a reset option for that specific sequence, but there should also be a separate reset button for the solenoid valve itself. For example, in cases involving air valves, it’s usually necessary to be able to reset them individually, rather than resetting them all at once. This is different from self-protection interlocks, which are part of the same logic circuit; obviously, a reset operation is required before the valve can be used again.
