It appears to be a circulating water valve; our company uses butterfly valves, but I thought ball valves would work as well too, it’s just that they’re too large... Butterfly valves are a better choice.

Eccentric butterfly valves can offer very good sealing performance, but they are also more expensive
Of course, butterfly valves can achieve zero leakage.
A globe valve can be used; butterfly valves have a higher likelihood of internal leakage, eccentric butterfly valves are more expensive, so an ordinary globe valve for use above water is sufficient.
